Directions

Abingdon Airfield is situated in the heart of Oxfordshire, just five miles away from Oxford and one mile west of Abingdon town.

The easiest way to reach the Abingdon Air & Country Show is by car, the public entrance to the event is just one mile from the A34 and three miles from the A420.

For 2017 there are separate entrances for advanced ticket holders and on the day ticket sales. It is important you travel to the correct gate otherwise you are likely to be delayed.

Arriving by Car

On the day ticket sales - Gate A

For users of satellite navigation, OX13 6JQ will direct you to Barrow Road. As soon as you see signs for Abingdon Air & Country Show, please follow them for the fastest route!

More precise instructions can be found below:

From the A34

Leave the A34 at the Abingdon/Marcham exit (not the Abingdon North exit) and follow signs for Marcham. After approximately 500 yards, turn right on to Blackhorse Lane and follow signs for Abingdon Air & Country Show on to Barrow Road and the public access gate.

From the A420

Turn onto the A415 (initially following signs for Kingston Bagpuize) and continue on the A415 until you have gone through Marcham. After approximately one mile, turn left on to Blackhorse Lane and follow signs for Abingdon Air & Country Show on to Barrow Road and the public access gate.

Advanced ticket holders - Gate B

For users of satellite navigation, OX13 6BX will direct you to Honeybottom Lane. As soon as you see signs for Abingdon Air & Country Show, please follow them for the fastest route!

More precise instructions can be found below:

From the A34

Leave the A34 at the Hinksey Hill exit, to follow the signs for Boars Hill and Wootton. The road rises and at the top, take the right turn for Youlbury Scout Camp / Boars Hill / Wootton.

Follow all the way across the top of the hill, and the road rapidly descends (you'll pass the Fox pub on the right hand side). You'll come to a T junction (Premier Bikes garage on your left side), turn left and almost immediate right onto Honeybottom Lane, and follow the GATE B signs for half a mile, the entrance will be on your left.

From the A420

Leave the A420 at the Cumnor turn off, and turn right at the junction, onto the B4017 Cumnor Road which goes into Lamborough Hill. You will pass Henwood and through Wootton village (passing the Bystander Pub on your right side in Wootton). You'll pass a speed camera as you head out of Wootton, and opposite the Premier Bike Garage on the left side, turn right onto Honeybottom Lane and follow the GATE B signs for half a mile, the entrance will be on your left.

Arriving by public transport

The nearest mainline train station to Abingdon is Oxford, with connecting busses (city4, run by the Oxford Bus Company) from Oxford Centre and the Station to the airfield.

The nearest stop to the entrance is not the Dalton Barracks stop, but the Faringdon Road stop, which is about half a mile from the airfield pedestrian entrance. Walk along Faringdon Road to the old RAF gates and into the airfield.

There is also the cityX3 service with fewer stops. This links Oxford to Abingdon and you would need to get a taxi from Abingdon town centre to Abingdon Airfield (ask to be dropped on Faringdon Road opposite Willow Tree Drive and walk through the old RAF gates – not the entrance to Dalton Barracks).

Once inside the airfield it is a ten minute walk to the showground.
